I had occasion to meet Ms. Foster some years back. I'd been invited onto the Columbia River sternwheeler that served as the set for part of the film version of "Maverick"--hoping to meet my all-time favorite smart alec actor James Garner (who didn't show)--and there was Jody Foster in costume. Mel Gibson, too. She couldn't have been friendlier and more than willing to chat. She's a mega-talent, a kind human being, and entitled to all the happiness and privacy she can get.
