Donate Dinner is an annual fundraising campaign for the Meals on Wheels People, that provides grocery shoppers the opportunity to “donate dinner to a homebound senior” when they shop for their Thanksgiving meals. Last year, shoppers donated $200,000 and we are looking to match or exceed that amount this year.
The funds will go toward helping the Meals on Wheels People continue to not only provide a hot meal to 17,000 area low-income seniors, but help to provide a little companionship to seniors who are experiencing social isolation.
How listeners can help:
Volunteer to a greeter at participating stores. People can sign up for one or more individual shifts or become a team leader and recruit 10 volunteers to fill a team. Register at www.DonateDinner.org/
Donate when you do your shopping. Particpating stores are:

Along with being a dedicated Oregonian and dog guy, and the happily married daddy of two young adults and one daughter in law, I'm a third generation radio person--my dad started up the Grinnell College radio station in Iowa and his dad played a hot piano in the Chicago radio drama days in the 30's. I was raised in suburban Chicago and Denver, but I chose Portland as my forever home right out of the University of Colorado (never mind the youthful detours to Seattle, San Francisco, and Houston). I still have a pebble I collected from the beach when I first laid eyes on the north Oregon coast.
As of December 1, 2011, K103 has been my radio home for 26 years. I cherish each day working with my friend Bruce Murdock, just as I relished the years I spent in collaboration with Craig Walker. I miss Dana Jeffries, but I really enjoy working with Janine Wolf! She's totally on top of traffic, and dishes up the funniest zingers!
