Dogs
Hi Bruce, Your dogs look warm and friendly.  My parents house is being protected by a Jack Russel. Dogs are faithful and they love you whether you are rich or poor. The nice dogs like me the mean ones do not like me.

My dogs are warm and friendly. Unless you're thinking of breaking into my house. Then they're not. Really.

I hear great things about Jack Russells.

proflowers
So I listened to your Proflowers commerical for $19.99 and thought wow, thats a good price.  I ordered that, but at the end and after I ordered it, my bill was over $45.  Yes, I got the free vase, but I also got a shipping charge of $14.99, a handling charge, a special handling charge of the date I wanted it delivered and tax (Ohio).

Of course, never saw those charges til AFTER I pressed enter, and it was in the far right corner.  Guess in the future,I need to be more careful when I am told of specials.

Marleen London

Hi Marleen. Delivery IS extra. Delivery is extra for almost everything you buy on the internet and needs to be shipped to anywhere in the world.

If you want it delivered tomorrow, they need to use special shipping and that costs more. If you can wait a couple of days, that costs less. If you want less delivery charge, order a little earlier (like I say on the air). As far as tax goes, that's a local decision - but I feel your pain.

Bottom line for me is they are quality flowers delivered anywhere on time and they stand behind their products. If you have any other problems let me know at
brucemurdock@k103.com and I will work with you to solve them. Thanks for listening and THANKS for the note!

Marathon Training Motivation
I saw this picture and had a good laugh -- it's my childhood nightmare come to life!  When I was in 2nd grade, we studied volcanoes and saw very scary films about lava from an erupting volcano flowing down into a town, knocking over buildings, etc.  Scared the daylights out of me. Then one of my classmates asked about Mount Hood, and my teacher told us that it was considered a "dormant" volcano rather than a "dead" one, indicating that someday it could erupt again.  Well, that was enough for me.  There ensued more than a few  years of dreams about lava flowing down our dead-end street towards our house and our car, where my dad was calmly packing the trunk while I stood screaming at him that the lava was coming!  (My dad considered packing the trunk of the family car an art form -- no one could rush him.)

Gene Hackman look alike

Your picture reminds me of Gene Hackman when he was in the French Connection.  I never have a chance to get on look at the Web page. It is nice I finally get to see what you look like after listening to you since you returned to Portland. Thanks for the morning.  I have live in Portland this year will be 20 years less 8 months that I moved back home to Maryland.  So when I heard you were going to DC I thought why?  There is alot of history there since you are a history buff yourself I can see why you wanted to visit. Living on the west coast is alot different that on the east coast.  I found that out going back after 17 years and I was only there for 8 months because I could not stand it back there.  I enjoy the morning show. I started listening when I first moved to Portland in September 1990. Keep it up!!!

Jesus on the Iron
I just think these sightings are so hilarious!  This "image" looks like any number of people -- a member of KISS, Cher, Wierd Al Yankovic, etc.  Who knows what Jesus really looked like, anyway?!? If it's a blessing to her, great.  But to have people lining up for miles to "worship" the image (like in other stories), uh, uh.

AMEN! Oh oh.

Halloween Costume Ideas. . . .
For you, who are NOT Halloween joiners, there are a couple of easy things you could do to be "festive" for the 31st. A very easy idea is to tie fishing line to a leaf and stitch the other end of fishing line to the bill of a baseball hat so that the leaf "floats" in front of your face. ..then you walk around gently blowing on the leaf. . .you're a LEAF BLOWER!! The other is to dress in all pink clothing and fasten a shoe to your head. ..you're BUBBLEGUM STUCK TO THE BOTTOM OF A SHOE!! I enjoy your show every morning!!

Red Neck Sprinkler
Bruce,

The redneck sprinkler is great!!!!  This is such a great idea!  And to think it would only cost a nickle, it is definetly recycling, and it even beats the price of what one would cost at the $Tree :)

In Poor Taste
Hi Bruce,
I listen to K103 all day, every work day.  I enjoy your morning show and I like the fact that you actually play music (so many stations don't anymore!).

When I heard the news about Billy Mays, I was immediately saddened.  I thought about the recent TV show I saw where he has a 20-something son and a 4-yr-old daughter.  Now they are without him, as is his wife and everyone else in his life who loved him and counted on him.  I thought your joke about him this morning was in poor taste.  It's just too soon to joke about.

Hi Char,

Thanks for your thoughts. I felt my comment was more an "homage" than a joke. Of course our best wishes and prayers go to the real people in his real life - but a 'tip of the hat' to his public persona seemed called for. Sorry if I offended.

Where to meet people
Hi Bruce -
I'm not yet on FaceBook (though my resistence is weakening), so here's my answer to your "Where to meet people" in Portland:
At one of the many wonderful offleash dog parks in Portland and Southwest Washington.  NOTE:  It helps to have a dog.  Double points if it's a Golden Retriever!

O.K. - just looking at your Blog for first time - but where are the  cats!!! I know men relate to dogs better than cats, but women like cats as well as dogs and perhaps equally.   They will sit still for pics.  cmo

Hi Charlene!

Our cats are evil incarnate. Besides, their agent has negotiated a prohibitively high fee for photo shoots. I may catch them in a candid someday. Stay tuned!

Aloha Friday song
I was wondering, do you guys call listeners to do the Aloha Friday song? I have a friend who lived on every Island in Hawaii, he was there for 30 years. I think it would be a very special treat for him to sing that song on the air. He lives in Florence OR, so he can't listen to you guys, but I've told him all about you. Every Friday while he was in Hawaii he and his staff always sang that song on Friday.

Hi Sheri!

We take volunteers to sing the song with us every Friday. Anyone can volunteer at 6:30AM on Friday by calling the studio lines. If you get through we put you on hold and then a roll of the "Aloha Friday" dice determines who gets on the air with us. Have your friend listen on-line at
www.k103.com some Friday and if he wants to sing with us - give us a call!

Grandbaby Pix
Hey, Bruce, you mentioned that you had been up to see your kids in Seattle this past (2/21-22) weekend.  So, WHERE are the most recent grandbaby pictures, HUH? :)  Seriously, she is about the cutest, happiest baby I've seen!

Hi Janice!

Grandpa Bruce had a disappointing weekend with the camera. Kaida's mom Kate is brilliant at collecting photos and I'm SURE we'll have some new ones very soon!

Kitties
Okay ,,,, so you posted pictures of the mutts ,,,, where are pictures of the cute little kitties?

MY kitties? Satan's Spawn 1 2 and 3? I've tried to photograph them in the past and found that their images do not register on film or digital media. Come to think of it they have no reflections in the mirror either. Should I be worried about this?

Happy you're here...
Hi Bruce...I was a faithful fan of yours when you were on KLSY in Seattle, and was *devastated* when you left the airwaves there.  Imagine my surprise & extreme pleasure when I found K103 (I am a recent transplant to Vancouver) and you're HERE.  :)  (insert happy dance)  I just wanted to thank you for making my mornings more bearable with my daughter and giving another FANTASTIC morning show to your listeners.

Peggy

Thanks for the shout-out and THANKS for trusting us with your family's ears! John and Dana and I LOVE being with you  guys in the morning!

Enough already!!
The comments this morning about the meteor border on insanity. Alluding to it being some type of sign?? Obama is NOT GOD and people need to stop deifying him. He is just a man who as of yet has done nothing glorious except win the presidency. We need to wait and see if he will truly be the man that he has promised he would be. The coins and plates all glorifying this man is kind of scary...don't place him on a pedistal just yet.!!

Interesting Dream
I just had to share this dream!

It's Tuesday morning...I look at the clock and it reads 7:19am!!! (My daughter is supposed to be at the bus stop at 7:25am).  I had the alarm set for 6:35am to wake me up to K103.  Funny thing is, when I finally awake at 7:19am I hear that the radio is on.  Then I remember!  My dream!  I won a contest to be on K103.  However, instead of broadcasting from your radio station, we went to a coffee shop to broadcast from there.  You ordered three coffees (one for me, for John and for yourself--Dana was at the studio).  I watched you broadcast live and then you played the song "Apologize" by OneRepublic.  I was so excited because I love that song.  I remember I started singing it in the coffee shop.  But then you told me I had to be quiet during the song because for some reason the listening audience could hear everything.

When I finally awoke the whole dream started making some sense.  I was listening to everything you were broadcasting, but it was all part of my dream--with some very quirky things added.  For example, at one point during the broadcast you all were suddenly broadcasting next to a swampy creek, which I fell into.  It was weird.

I'm a mom of three children six and under.  I think in order to get back into the swing of things (school routines, etc.), I either should blast my wake to radio option, or opt for the annoying beep of my alarm.

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

Rose  :)

I'm not sure I CAN enjoy the rest of my day broadcasting from this swamp....but thanks for sharing your dream!

Holidays
Dear Bruce:

I want to wish you and your staff a very Happy New Year for 2009.  This was quite a end of the year in 2008 with the snow.

We were just able to get out of the house, a couple of days ago as we do not have snow tires or chains for the car.

A"lot of Snow."

Again a very Happy New Year.

Just dropping by
Hi,
I just popped in to see if I could play the Christmas music at work. Was reading your info, and wondered if you really did marry your 7th grade teacher? Love the pictures of Jackson and Emma.

Hi Debbie!

Well - I did marry A 7th grade teacher but she wasn't a 7th grade teacher when I was a 7th grader. In fact my wife was a 4th grade student when I was a 7th grade student.

What are you trying to kick up some trouble? :)
