The website for collecting money for Portland's Arts Tax wasn't capable of handling the number of people waiting until the last day to pay.
If you weren't able to access the website to pay the Portland Arts Tax on Wednesday, the deadline for paying, don't worry you have more time.
The number of people who waited until Wednesday to pay caused the website to crash. The city has delayed the deadlined until the problem is fixed.
It's the second time the deadline has been delayed. It was supposed to be April 15, but that was delayed a month after the city changed the code to exempt people making less than a thousand dollars a year.
The city's revenue department reports that more than have of the people who are supposed to pay have made their payment.
The city won't send out past due notices until later this summer when council makes more changes to the ordinance.
