The state's unemployment rate declined to 8.2%.
As Oregon's economy continues to grow the number of new jobs is increasing. The Oregon Employment Department reports that in March 1,900 new jobs were added. Private businesses posted 2,700 jobs, but government cut 800 jobs.
The February unemployment rate was revised from 8.4% to 8.3% and the March rate was 8.2%.
The Construction industry added the most jobs, followed by Leisure and Hospitality, and Educational and Health Services.
The broader U6 unemployment index, which includes the unemployed who have quit looking for jobs and people who have taken part-time jobs instead of full-time, remains near 17%.
