Investigators say speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in crash near Estacada.
On Saturday March 30th at approximately 10:46 p.m., Clackamas County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a report of a crash on a Forest Service Road outside Estacada.
It was reported that an open backed Toyota 4-Runner had rolled over with 7 passengers inside. Six of the passengers in the 4-Runner were injured in the crash.
The crash happened in an area with no cell phone coverage so the victims were loaded into other vehicles and transported to Hillockburn Road and HWY 211 where they were met by medical personnel and transported to area hospitals.
One passenger, 17-year-old Nicholas Porter, from Milwaukie, died from his injuries. The other victims, whose names are being withheld because they are under 18 years old are all being treated at local hospitals. None of the other injuries are life threatening.
The victims were all part of a large group of teenagers who had been gathering up in the woods throughout the night.
The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Joseph Childs, was injured in the crash. The investigation continues however, it is believed that both alcohol and speed were a factor in the crash. No charges have been filed yet.
