Suspect rams Gresham police car

The Gresham officer fired his gun at the suspect.

Officers from multiple agencies are searching for the driver of a vehicle that rammed a police car, resulting in an officer firing shots at the vehicle. Police searched the area of 126th and SE Stark St., where the vehicle was abandoned by the driver.

The incident began at 10:42 p.m. Friday when two Gresham Officers encountered the suspect vehicle at 167th Pl. and NE Couch. The details of this encounter are not available. At some point, the suspect vehicle rammed one of the police cars and one of the officers shot at the vehicle. Information on how many shots were fired is not available. The vehicle fled the area and was not pursued by the officers. The officers were not injured.

At 10:53, the vehicle was spotted near 158th and SE Stark by a Multnomah County Sheriff's Deputy, who attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle fled which led to a pursuit. Officers from the Portland Police Bureau assisted in the pursuit and the vehicle eventually was abandoned at 126th and Stark and the driver fled.

Officers from Multnomah County, Portland Police and Gresham Police began a search for the driver, but didn't find the suspect. Detectives from Gresham Police and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office are investigating the details of the shooting.
