Would you get a prescription for your teenager to tan?
Protecting your kids was the reason most Oregon representatives supported a tanning booth bill. But some also objected to the ban.
Oregon has the highest death rate in the country among women diagnosed with melanoma. Many of those cases start when the women are teens - and use tanning booths.
Representative Peter Buckley has a solution. "Prohibit the use of indoor u-v tanning devices by minors under the age of 18 unless prescribed by a physician."
A good idea but Representative Tim Freeman voted no...for business reasons..."how can we do it in a way that is not going to hurt small businesses around the state."
The bill goes to the state senate.
