Warning signs are posted in Mary S. Young State Park, because a bull Sea Lion is recovering on shore from injuries.

You'll see warning signs along the Willamette River in Mary S. Young State Park, because of a large bull Sea Lion that is on the shore recovering from injuries.

The sea lion is a large territorial bull, among the largest in our region, and is well known to the biologist who have tracked him.

At this time it is not in danger and will eventually move on but on his own schedule.  The public is asked to continue to follow all of the advisories for marine mammals.

Federal and State Laws Prohibit Touching, Feeding, or Disturbing Marine Mammals.   Seals and Sea Lions often rest on or along Oregon beaches and waterways.  Please stay at least 50 yards away from them, DO NOT pour water on seals or sea lions, DO NOT allow dogs to approach, and please DO NOT DISTURB the animal.
