A Silicon Forest company is hiring

Oregon taxpayers will be getting some return on the one-point-four million dollars they are investing in Oracle's Hillsboro facility.

Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber put on a maroon visitor's jacket for a tour of the Oracle plant.

It was part of his announcement that Oracle will not move 300 jobs from Oregon to Mexico and they will add another 130 jobs, with state help.  "We've given a strategic reserve fund forgivable loan, 750-thousand.  It's forgiveable as long as the company meets the job creation matrix.  An additional 649-thousand from this new Business Retention and Expansion Fund."

Luke Kowalski is an Oracle vice president; "we are indeed moving production of our systems and servers from Mexico to Oregon.  This will help us keep pace with customer demand, drive innovation and bring new technology jobs to Oregon."
