Around 5:30 a.m. Thursday, 56-year-old Tommy Gann was hit by a white cargo van near Southeast 14th and Holgate. It's the same neighborhood where Gann lives. He was transported to OHSU, but later died.

Police say the van was traveling westbound on Holgate when the crash happened. The driver didn't stop.

Police are hoping someone can identify the van. It was white, with no windows on the back and a rack on the roof.

It'll have front end damage and possibly a broken windshield or mirror.

This is the sixth traffic fatality in Portland in 2013 and the third involving a pedestrian.
