Marion County deputies search for two men.
Before he was taken to the hospital, the victim of a shooting and attempted home invasion robbery was alert enough to tell Marion County deputies about his attackers.
"From what the suspects demanded of the victim, we know their intent was to rob him. They were asking for money," said Don Thomson, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.
Before police arrived, the victim, who has not been identified by police, was shot. It happened around 8 a.m. Monday at a cottage behind a main house on a property on Jade St. N.E., near Lancaster Drive and Ward Drive in Salem.
The victim said the suspects are two men. This is how they are described by the sheriff's office:
The first suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, 20-30', 6-0, thin build, with a beard. He was wearing a black full-face mask stocking cap and a black jacket with a red Michael Jordan logo on it.
The second suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, 5-10, stocky build, with a beard. He also wore a black stocking cap mask.
The men drove away from the scene in a small, red pickup with a black canopy.
