Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Alcohol was a factor in a wrong way crash Saturday night on the ramp from I-205 southbound to I-5 northbound in Tualatin.

Oregon State Police report that calls started coming in to 911 about a wrong way vehicle driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-5.

The driver, 35-year-old Derek Thiem, of Portland, took the ramp to I-205 southbound and collided with an SUV.

Firefighters had to cut Thiem out of his car.  He's hospitalized at OHSU.

Four people were in the SUV and they weren't hurt.

Thiem was cited by OSP for DUII, Reckless Driving, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Assault in the Fourth Degree, Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
