People who live near the Addison Apartments in Vancouver say they heard about six shots around 11 a.m. Friday, a man killed in a run-in with Vancouver Police and U.S. Marshals.

Kim Kapp with the Vancouver Police Department said the shooting happened while authorities were attempting to arrest the man on an outstanding warrant. The man allegedly rammed a police car in an attempt to escape officers. The man later approached officers who fired shots. What the man did to motivate the gunfire has not been revealed but Kapp tells The Oregonian officers believed the man was armed.

The Clark County Major Crimes Team is investigating.
