A woman in her 20's told police she was stabbed by a stranger, but that might not have been case.

Around 9 p.m. Thursday, a woman in her 20s was walking near Southeast 174th and Stark Street.  She told police that another woman approached her.  Without provocation the woman stabbed her.  She said they didn't know each other.

Officers, including a Police K-9 Unit, conducted an extensive neighborhood search but did not locate anyone matching the suspect's description.

Now police are questioning her story.  They think the wound might be self-inflected.  The woman is undergoing a mental health evaluation.
