Ladies, want the man in your life to know you really care? Don’t tell him – show him. Here’s how, courtesy of marriage therapist Dr. Mike Dow:

• Give him your undivided attention. Dr. Dow says the male brain is geared toward doing one task at a time, and blocking out distractions. Women are just the opposite, which makes them ideal multi-taskers. But it also means, if your boyfriend sees you checking your phone on a dinner date, he'll interpret that as “I'm not important enough for her to focus on me.” So, prove he’s a priority by making eye contact and limiting the interruptions.
• Make his favorite meal. Knowing what he likes without having to ask shows you care enough to pay attention. In fact, Dr. Dow says couples that know small details about each other have the happiest relationships.
• Ask his advice. Clinical psychologist Dr. Andra Brosch says men are hard-wired to be problem solvers. They feel most competent when they can fix something or come up with a solution. So, ask for advice about a problem at work, or even to open a jar of pasta sauce. Men feel best when they feel useful. Dr. Brosch says asking for advice shows that you rely on him. And need, dependency and love go hand in hand.
• Say thank-you for the little things! Next time he takes out the trash, or drives the kids to school, say “Thanks. I really appreciate it.” Studies show that men crave acknowledgement. And they’re happier in relationship in which they feel their contributions make a difference.
• Hug him for at least 7 seconds. That's the threshold between a casual hug you'd give a friend and an intimate hug you give someone you love. And men need that touch. Women connect verbally, but men connect physically.

• Exercise for 11-minutes when you first wake up. New research from Southern Illinois University shows that an intense workout in the morning can help you burn more fat all day long. That’s because jump starting your muscles increases your metabolism, so you’ll burn more calories throughout the day.
• At work, skip the office chair and stand. We’ve talked before about how a growing number of companies offer “standing” desks and using one can help you lose weight! That’s because when you stand, enzymes in the muscles of your legs and rear get switched “off,” telling your body to stop storing fat.
• Start your lunch break with soup. A new study from Penn State found that people ate an average of 135 fewer calories when they started their meals with a broth-based vegetable soup. That’s because eating hot soup forces you to slow down, so you eat less overall.
• Chew some sugarless gum around 2pm. British researchers found that when people chewed gum after lunch, they were 11 percent less likely to give in to midday snack cravings.
• At dinner, use real plates – even if you’re having takeout. According to a new Cornell study, people who eat with real dinnerware tend to think of their food as a “meal,” while people who eat from paper plates tend to think of their food as a “snack.” Why does that matter? Believe it or not, the “real” plate eaters ate an average of 116 fewer calories per meal.

Dermatologists say the secret to glowing skin isn’t facials or fancy products – it’s good skincare habits! And a lot of us don’t realize we have bad habits, which actually damage and age our skin. So, are a few skin secrets to keep in mind:

• Washing your face in the morning sounds like a good move. But it strips your skin of essential oils, leaving it much more fragile and at risk of damage from the elements as you go about your day. So, when should you wash your face? Dermatologists say wash up at night, so you get all the grime and dirt off your face. That’ll help your skin regenerate and produce collagen as you sleep. Then when you wake up, simply rinse your face with water and apply a moisturizer and sunblock.
• Easy with the loofah! Sloughing off dead cells helps keep your skin healthy and bright. But too much exfoliation can cause irritation and dryness. So, the American Board of Dermatology suggests exfoliating twice a week – max.
• When it comes to products, less is more! A lot of people think that piling on moisturizers, lotions, and serums will make their skin glow. But it could actually give you a nasty case of hives because ingredients in different products can cause allergic reactions or cancel out each other’s properties. So, experts suggest keeping it simple with a moisturizer and sunblock.
• Don’t forget to give your neck some T-L-C! The skin on your neck is even more delicate than your face, because it doesn’t have as many oil glands – so much more vulnerable to sun damage. So, dermatologists suggest applying sunscreen to your neck every day. And always in an upward motion. That’s an anti-aging trick that’ll prevent sagging and keep your neck looking firm.
