BIG IMPACT ON SOUTH WATERFRONT AREA
Traffic impacted Oct. 8-12 in South Waterfront area due to final placement of 28 massive girders for light rail construction
Traffic in the South Waterfront area will be impacted the week of Oct. 8-12 by the placement of 28 massive girders as part of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Transit Project. This is the final set of girder placement for the 1,739 foot long Harbor Structure. The 40+ ton girders were fabricated in Tigard by Fought & Company and individually transported to the construction site at SW River Parkway.
The movement and placement of the girders is very complicated due to the built environment around the alignment between Naito Parkway and Harbor Drive. Media can get good shots of the construction along the west side of SW Harrison Street.
