James Chamberlain has been teaching at Tualatin Valley Academy for 14 years.  This is what his nominator and former student, Onica Mello, had to say about him:

I am a former student and often visit the campus.  I’m nominating Mr. Chamberlain for his extensive work, dedication, and care for our school and students. His outreach to everyone has been a big part of each student having a great school experience. He works on everything from Christmas concerts, to organizing sports teams, planning class camping trips, while teaching all of the PE classes at the school while raising his own two kids.  Every year he works on the Christmas concert including:  lighting, organizing and setting up props, discussing and answering questions of parents, and planning and announcing the dates and times.  He is the devoted coach of two boys' basketball teams, a girls' basketball and volleyball team, and countless soccer teams for grades Pre-K through 8th grade (the school's mascot is the Eagles).  Each year, 7th and 8th graders enjoy one of the biggest events of the school year, a four day camping trip to Lake Cushman in Washington.  James organizes this entire trip which includes the food eaten each meal, the hikes the students are taken on, which parents are chaperoning the trip, buying tickets to a Seattle Mariners baseball game for everyone, and boat drivers for a day on the lake.  He is the Physical  Education class teacher and really gets to know his students.  He hosts school parties at his house where he holds treasure hunts, worships, games, and welcomes anyone who wants to attend.  All in all, James Chamberlain is extremely involved in his job at Tualatin Valley Academy and does much more than what I’ve mentioned.  He sends his two kids to school there and truly believes in the work he is doing.

Congratulations James Chamberlain from K103!
