Maybe you've heard the story - how I lost my mom to Alzheimer's Disease last year. Mom died the day before Thanksgiving after a 15-year battle with the disease. And it was terrible. In the early years, she understood that she was losing her mind, unable to remember a paragraph she'd read just a minute before. Imagine losing your memories and abilities bit-by-bit. From reading and counting and misplacing your keys to forgetting your children's names, your ability to speak, to use the restroom, to walk, to chew and swallow. It's very real and exhausting for both the victim of dementia and the victim's friends and family.

Good things are being done to find the causes, treatments, prevention and causes of dementia and we can help! Join TEAM HEATON and walk with us Sunday morning (Sept. 23) at the Walk to End Alzheimer's at Portland International Raceway.

It's fun, motivational, informational and worth your time. Have a few bucks to spare? Every cent counts. Oh, and it's tax deductible!
