Chaia Elwell and her friends were waiting for their chicken at a Raising Cane's in Rhode Island last Thursday after school when she said she noticed a commotion around another diner choking on his food.
She said her fight or flight kicked in when she realized everyone was standing around him not knowing what to do. So she took charge and gave him the Heimlich, saving the man.
She says she learned the skill as a senior health career student in High School, where she is currently taking an EMT class.
Chaia said she plans to study nursing in college.
